Palace Albanija stands thirteen stories tall at a prominent junction in the center of Belgrade. When it was completed in nineteen thirty-nine, the building introduced a new vertical scale to the city, marking the first skyscraper in Southeast Europe. Its design, characterized by a reinforced concrete frame and a facade once clad in greenish Italian marble, reflects the modernist style prevalent in the capital during the years between the two world wars.
