Abdul Gaffoor Mosque

other

The Abdul Gaffoor Mosque is distinguished by its vivid yellow and green facade and the prominent, clock-like sundial mounted above its main entrance. This sundial is etched with Arabic calligraphy naming twenty-five Islamic prophets, and it is flanked by miniature Corinthian columns. The building occupies the site of a former wooden prayer house, the Al-Abrar Mosque, which served the Tamil Muslim merchants and Baweanese horse trainers who lived in the Kampong Kapor area during the mid-nineteenth century.
