Church of St. Florian

The Church of St. Florian sits on Gornji trg, or Upper Square, marked by a statue of Saint John Nepomuk set directly into the building's facade. This Roman Catholic church was commissioned by local citizens following a devastating fire that swept through the Stari trg and Gornji trg squares in sixteen sixty. As Saint Florian is the traditional patron saint invoked against fire, the church was built to seek his protection for the neighborhood.
