Ahopsan Forest is a private, five hundred twenty thousand square meter woodland in Gijang-gun that takes its name from the nine valleys it embraces. The forest is characterized by dense bamboo groves and ancient Geumgang pine trees, some of which have stood for four hundred years. It remained closed to the general public for four centuries, protected by nine successive generations of the Nampyeong Moon clan who settled here after the Imjin War.
