Seokguram Grotto is a domed sanctuary on the slopes of Mount Tohamsan, recognizable by the artificial mound of granite blocks that encases its inner chambers. Built in the eighth century during the Silla Kingdom, this site was designed under the direction of the prime minister Kim Daeseong. It houses a monumental seated Buddha, over three meters tall, which gazes eastward toward the sea.
