torrent de Pareis

natural

The Torrent de Pareis is a deep limestone canyon in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, characterized by massive, near-vertical rock walls that rise up to three hundred meters high. Its name, which means twin rivers, refers to the way the Torrent de Lluc and the Torrent des Gorg Blau meet at a point called S'Entreforc to form this singular, dramatic gorge. Over millions of years, the abrasive power of seasonal floodwaters carved this channel through the karstic landscape, creating a maze of caves and narrow passages that extend for over three thousand meters before reaching the Mediterranean Sea at the beach of Sa Calobra.
