The Albercutx Watchtower is a stout, circular stone tower perched about three hundred and eighty meters above sea level on the Formentor Peninsula. Built in the fifteen seventies, it was part of a chain of coastal outposts designed to guard Mallorca against raids by Barbary corsairs. The structure features thick limestone rubble walls and an entrance raised several meters above the ground, which sentries once reached using removable ladders to keep intruders out.
