The Edificio Grassy is defined by its triangular footprint and the circular stone tower at its corner, which is crowned by two stacked, open-air belvederes. Completed in nineteen seventeen by architect Eladio Laredo y Carranza, the building was originally commissioned as a pair of luxury residential properties. It occupies a narrow, wedge-shaped plot of land at the very beginning of the Gran Vía, a site chosen to establish a deliberate architectural dialogue with the neighboring Edificio Metrópolis.
