The Palmeral de las Sorpresas is defined by a series of white, undulating concrete pergolas that provide shade along the waterfront of Malaga’s second harbor pier. Spanning twenty thousand square meters, this public space holds nearly four hundred palm trees planted in distinct, geometric clusters. Architect Jerónimo Junquera designed the area to integrate the city’s historic center with its maritime edge, replacing what was once a fenced-off industrial zone of grain silos.
