The Kizimkazi Mosque stands in the small village of Dimbani, on the southern tip of Zanzibar. It is defined by its trefoil mihrab—a prayer niche featuring ornate, polylobed arches and intricate coral carvings—which served as a model for many later mosques across the island. The building is officially recognized as a National Historic Site and remains an active place of worship today.
