Wat Umong Suan Putthatham is defined by a network of brick tunnels burrowing into a low hill, a feature that earns it the local name, the Tunnel Temple. Built in the late thirteenth century during the reign of King Mangrai, the site sits within fifteen acres of wooded grounds at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain.
