Sidi Bou Said features brilliant white buildings accented by vivid blue doors, window shutters, and wrought-iron grillwork. Perched on a high cliff overlooking the Gulf of Tunis, the village takes its name from Abu Said al-Baji, a thirteenth-century Sufi mystic who established a sanctuary at this site to focus on religious contemplation and teaching.
