The Falls of Clyde

viewpoint

The Falls of Clyde are a series of four distinct waterfalls—Bonnington Linn, Corra Linn, Dundaff Linn, and Stonebyres Linn—that carve through a deep, sheer-walled sandstone gorge on the River Clyde. You can identify the site by the dramatic, multi-tiered drops of water and the dense, hanging oak woodlands that frame the river. This river system provided the raw mechanical force that allowed the nearby cotton mill village of New Lanark to grow into one of the largest factory sites in the world after its founding in seventeen eighty-five.
