Strathclyde Country Park is defined by the expansive, artificial Strathclyde Loch that occupies the center of this four-hundred-hectare landscape. While the park now serves as a hub for watersports, rowing regattas, and woodland trails, the water conceals the remains of the former mining village of Bothwellhaugh. Residents lived in rows of red sandstone houses here until the mid-twentieth century, when the creation of the loch in the nineteen seventies submerged the village entirely.
