The Alaska Botanical Garden consists of over one hundred acres of spruce and birch forest tucked inside Far North Bicentennial Park. You can identify the site by its perimeter fencing, which was built to keep moose out of the cultivated areas. Opened to the public in nineteen ninety-five after a decade of planning by local volunteers, the garden displays over one thousand species of perennials, including a collection of Himalayan blue poppies.
