The Mountain Station sits at an elevation of eight thousand, five hundred and sixteen feet, a three-story structure designed in the style of a Swiss chalet with expansive windows facing the desert below. Built as the upper terminal for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, this building marks the end of a two and a half mile ascent from Chino Canyon. Its reinforced concrete base supports a frame of wood and glass, providing a climate-controlled arrival point in the alpine wilderness of Mount San Jacinto State Park.
