Neptune's Net is identifiable by the retro-script sign hanging above an outdoor patio, where rows of motorcycles often gather near the edge of the Pacific Coast Highway. Established in nineteen fifty-six, the site began as a combination of a gas station, a real estate office, and a diner known to locals as Jake's Diner, named for its founder, a NASA aerodynamicist named Eastman Jacobs.
