Lafayette Hotel

The Lafayette Hotel is defined by its sprawling, Colonial-style architecture and an expansive outdoor swimming pool designed by Olympic gold medalist and actor Johnny Weissmuller. Originally opened in nineteen forty-six as the Imig Motel, the property was the vision of entrepreneur Larry Imig, who sought to create a luxurious retreat along El Cajon Boulevard. Its distinct design blends Colonial Revival and Neoclassical motifs, a style that caught the attention of hotelier Conrad Hilton, who purchased the site in nineteen forty-nine.
