The Venice Sign hangs directly across Windward Avenue near Pacific Avenue, a row of illuminated letters suspended in the air. This structure is a modern replica of an original electric trestle sign that was first installed in nineteen oh five by the neighborhood founder, Abbot Kinney. Kinney erected the original to promote his newly developed resort town, a place he designed to combine the canals of Italy with the amusements of an American boardwalk.
