Queen Emma Summer Palace

museum

Queen Emma Summer Palace, also known as Hānaiakamalama, sits in the emerald uplands of Nuuanu Valley. The residence is a one-story, white-framed house characterized by a front porch with tall Doric columns in the Greek Revival style. Originally built in Boston in eighteen forty-eight, the structure was shipped to Hawaii in pieces via Cape Horn and later assembled for a private citizen before entering the possession of Queen Emma’s uncle, John Young the second.
