The Byodo-In Temple is marked by its sweeping, curved rooflines and the vibrant red-painted exterior that stands out against the backdrop of the steep, emerald-colored cliffs of the Koʻolau Mountains. Dedicated on June seventh, nineteen sixty-eight, this site was constructed to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants arriving in Hawaii. It is a non-denominational replica of the nine-hundred-year-old Byodo-In Temple located in Uji, Japan.
