Deerfield Academy is a historic coeducational boarding and day school situated within a village of eighteenth-century architecture. Its campus is easily identified by the presence of the John Williams Dormitory, which features the Deerfield Door, a decorative architectural symbol of the school's heritage. Chartered in seventeen ninety-seven by Governor Samuel Adams, the academy originally functioned as a local school for the surrounding frontier community.
