The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is defined by a soaring, nine-story glass pavilion that catches the light above the waters of Dorchester Bay. Designed by architect I. M. Pei and completed in nineteen seventy-nine, this modernist complex brings together a sharp white concrete tower and a vast, light-filled volume of glass and steel. It sits on a ten-acre site at Columbia Point that was once a landfill, now transformed into a landscape of hardy native plants and sweeping lawns that look out toward the Boston skyline.
