A life-size bronze statue stands at the corner of Main Street and Hayden Rowe Street, depicting a woman in mid-stride with a ponytail bouncing behind her. This sculpture, titled The Girl Who Ran, portrays the artist herself, Bobbi Gibb, as she appeared while competing in the Boston Marathon. It marks the spot near the historic start line where, on April nineteen sixty-six, Gibb defied race officials who had rejected her application.
