Theodore Wirth Chalet

park garden

The Eddie Manderville Chalet stands out for its distinct Swiss-inspired timber architecture, a design chosen by park superintendent Theodore Wirth to reflect his own Swiss heritage. Built in two stages between nineteen twenty-two and nineteen twenty-three, the building was originally commissioned to provide a permanent clubhouse for the public golf course at what was then called Glenwood Park. Its rustic exterior and heavy timber construction have made it a recognizable landmark within the sprawling regional park that now bears Wirth’s name.
