The Flight 587 Memorial Park is marked by an arching wall of windows that sits on an elevated base near the Rockaway Beach boardwalk at the south end of Beach One Hundred Sixteenth Street. Dedicated in two thousand six, the memorial honors the two hundred sixty-five people who died when American Airlines Flight 587 broke apart and crashed into the nearby Belle Harbor neighborhood on November 12, 2001.
