The Rockaway Beach Surf Club sits at the corner of Beach Eighty-Seventh Street and the Rockaway Freeway, identifiable by its location directly beneath the elevated train tracks. What began in twenty-twelve as a modest project on a former auto body lot has evolved into a hub for the local surfing community. Founders Bradach Walsh and Brandon d'Leo originally envisioned the space as a place for surfers to store boards and work on creative projects, but it soon grew into a venue for art, music, and community gatherings.
