The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden sits on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake, anchored by the historic DeGolyer Estate and the Alex Camp House. These two estates, built in the late nineteen thirties, anchor a sixty-six-acre landscape of nineteen named gardens. You can identify the grounds by the massive Spanish Colonial Revival mansion that dominates the site, a twenty-one-thousand-square-foot structure built for the oil explorer Everette Lee DeGolyer.
