The most striking feature of the historic jewelry trade in Bukhara is the Toqi Zargaron, a massive, covered dome built in fifteen sixty-nine. It served as a centralized hub for the city’s zargars, or goldsmiths, housing thirty-six workshops and shops where gold, precious stones, and coral were traded along the Silk Road.
