The Da Nang Museum occupies a prominent building that features a Neoclassical design with a central three-story facade facing the Han River. Construction began in eighteen ninety-eight and finished in nineteen hundred, during which time it served as the headquarters for French colonial governors. The structure stands within the grounds of the Dien Hai Citadel, a site known for the first battle against the French-Spanish coalition in eighteen fifty-eight.
