Bạch Đằng Street stretches along the western bank of the Han River, identifiable by its row of mature trees and its position as the city’s primary riverfront promenade. Originally established during the French colonial era under the name Quai Courbet, the road was renamed in nineteen fifty-five to commemorate the Bach Đằng River. That northern waterway is famous for the nine thirty-eight battle where Ngo Quyen defeated the Southern Han fleet, a victory that secured Vietnamese independence.
