Macquarie Lighthouse

The Macquarie Lighthouse is a twenty-six-meter-tall white tower with a distinctive crown and railing, standing on the cliffs at Vaucluse. It is the site of the first lighthouse built in Australia, which became operational in eighteen eighteen to guide ships into Sydney Harbour. The architect was Francis Greenway, a convict who was granted a partial pardon by Governor Lachlan Macquarie for his work on the structure.
