Kinkabool Apartments

Kinkabool Apartments, located at thirty-two to thirty-four Hanlan Street, is the building that started the high-rise era in Surfers Paradise. Completed in nineteen sixty, this ten-story structure was designed by architect John M. Morton. At the time of its construction, it stood as a giant compared to the small holiday shacks and two-story guesthouses that dominated the area. Entrepreneur Stanley Korman commissioned the project, aiming to bring the luxury and modernity he had seen in American beach resorts to the Queensland coast.
