Fremantle Markets

The Fremantle Markets are defined by their Federation Romanesque architecture, characterized by solid stone walls and grand, rounded entrance arches that face South Terrace and Henderson Street. Inside, the cavernous space is held up by tall jarrah wood columns that support a high iron roof. This building has stood at this corner since its foundation stone was laid by the first Premier of Western Australia, Sir John Forrest, on November sixth, eighteen ninety-seven.
