The Waldbach Ursprung marks the dramatic emergence of the Waldbach stream from deep within the Dachstein mountain massif. You can recognize this spot by the intense, cold water surging directly out of a rocky cave entrance at the foot of the mountains. This is one of the largest karst springs in Austria, where water that has traveled through hidden alpine cave systems for days finally returns to the surface.
