Cafe Den Engel sits on the corner of the Grote Markt and Braderijstraat, identifiable by its neo-Flemish Renaissance stepped gable. This structure, one of the oldest in Antwerp, has roots stretching back to the fourteenth century. While the site has been a place for commerce and refreshment for hundreds of years, it has operated under the name Den Engel since at least nineteen oh three.
