"Pé do Caboclo" - Monumento ao Dois de Julho

The Monumento ao Dois de Julho, often called the Caboclo Monument, stands in the Largo do Campo Grande. Its most distinctive feature is the bronze sculpture of an Indigenous man, more than four meters tall, poised at the top of a twenty-five-meter column. He holds a bow and arrow while standing over a defeated dragon, a symbolic representation of Brazilian independence from Portuguese rule.
