The Theatro Municipal de São Paulo is recognizable by its grand facade, which features an eclectic mix of Renaissance and Baroque influences designed to echo the scale and elegance of the Palais Garnier in Paris. Construction on this site, known as Morro do Chá or Tea Hill, began in nineteen oh three under the direction of Brazilian engineer Ramos de Azevedo and Italian architects Cláudio and Domiziano Rossi.
