The Dead Sea, or Mrtvo More, is a small saltwater lake tucked into the rocky interior of Lokrum Island. It is recognizable by its calm, still, blue-green waters, which are sheltered from the open Adriatic by the surrounding limestone cliffs. Formed long ago when an ancient cavern collapsed, the basin reaches about ten meters deep and remains connected to the sea through a network of hidden underwater fissures and fractures.
