Vestre Cemetery is a vast, fifty-four-hectare landscape defined by winding gravel paths, dense tree-lined avenues, and quiet ponds. Opened in eighteen seventy, this space was created to accommodate the rapidly expanding population of Copenhagen, as older burial grounds within the city walls could no longer keep pace with the needs of the growing capital.
