The Cour de Ramsès, or Great Court of Ramses II, is the massive entry courtyard of Luxor Temple, identifiable by seventy-four columns with lotus-bud capitals that encircle the space. Built during the thirteenth century before the common era, the court was designed to serve as a ceremonial staging ground where the pharaoh could appear before the public.
