The Memorium Nuremberg Trials occupies the top floor of the Palace of Justice, a large, stone building that stands in the Bärenschanze area of the city. This courthouse was selected for the trials of high-ranking Nazi officials after the Second World War primarily because it was one of the few massive structures left largely intact in the region. It provided enough space to house the sprawling legal teams from the four Allied nations, along with a nearby prison to hold the defendants.
