The Gandharva Mahavidyalaya is a prominent music and dance school identifiable by the blend of traditional Indian classical instruction and the steady stream of students arriving with everything from cycles and scooters to sedans. Established in nineteen thirty-nine by Pandit Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, the school was created to honor the ideals of the musician and reformer Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. Paluskar spent his life dismantling the idea that classical music belonged only to an elite few, and this school carries that mission forward by providing structured, professional training to anyone, regardless of their background or lineage.
