Nahargarh Fort sits on the crest of the Aravalli Hills, its long, yellow sandstone ramparts stretching along the ridge to overlook the city of Jaipur. Commissioned in seventeen thirty-four by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh the Second, it was designed as a summer retreat and a defensive anchor alongside the neighboring forts of Amer and Jaigarh. While these walls were built to guard the capital, they never actually faced an attack.
