Valluvar Kottam Monument

historic

The Valluvar Kottam is identified by a towering, thirty-nine-meter-high stone structure built in the likeness of a traditional temple chariot. It sits at the intersection of Kodambakkam High Road and Village Road, occupying land that once served as the Nungambakkam Lake. After the lake dried and the site became a dumping ground, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi initiated the project to honor the classical Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar.
