Banaras Hindu University is marked by a distinctive semicircular layout, with its roads radiating outward like the rays of a rising sun. Established in nineteen sixteen by the nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, it occupies thirteen hundred acres of land that was once donated by the local ruler, Prabhu Narayan Singh. This institution was designed to blend traditional Indian values with modern scientific education, becoming a residential hub that brought students from across the country together during the struggle for independence.
