The Shri Vishwanath Temple, often called the New Vishwanath Temple, rises seventy-seven meters above the campus of Banaras Hindu University. You can identify it by its pure white Rajasthani marble exterior and its towering central spire, which is one of the tallest temple towers in India. While the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple in the city’s old quarter remains a primary pilgrimage destination, this structure was envisioned by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder of the university, to provide a serene and accessible space for reflection.
