The Oscar Wilde Monument

The Oscar Wilde Memorial Sculpture sits in the northwest corner of Merrion Square, anchored by a life-size, reclining figure of the writer draped in a colorful, multi-material jacket. Sculpted by Danny Osborne and unveiled in nineteen ninety-seven, the statue is fashioned from green nephrite jade, pink thulite, and blue pearl granite, all resting atop a massive quartz boulder. It faces directly toward the house at number one Merrion Square, where Wilde spent his childhood.
