Charlie Byrne's Bookshop is a sprawling, multi-roomed space inside the Cornstore Mall on Middle Street, characterized by its maze-like layout of floor-to-ceiling shelves. It originated in nineteen eighty-nine when Charlie Byrne transitioned from working as an archaeologist to selling books from a cart at a weekend market. After operating out of a small space on Dominick Street that was essentially a filled-in archway, the shop moved several times before settling into its current home.
