Via dell'Inferno

Via dell'Inferno is a narrow, winding street characterized by its tightly packed medieval buildings and the absence of wide open spaces. It serves as the primary artery of the former Jewish ghetto, which the Papal State established in fifteen fifty-six to isolate the city's Jewish population. The area remained a confined, guarded enclosure with gates that were locked at sunset until the final expulsion of the Jewish community from Bologna in fifteen ninety-three.
